Hola, I’m Cristian López, the creator of holahow.com. I help people learn Spanish with clear strategies, effective resources, and the right mindset to succeed.
Spanish is my first language, and I grew up between Mexico City and the city of Puebla, surrounded by its culture and diversity. I also know what it feels like to learn a new language. English is not my first language, but acquiring it has given me insight into the challenges learners face, like building confidence, thinking directly in the language, and avoiding the trap of word-for-word translation. These experiences shaped how I teach today.
My academic background also supports my work. I hold a degree in Communication Studies, which helps me explain language in a way that’s practical and easy to apply. On top of that, I earned a DIEELE certificate in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
Since the pandemic, I’ve been teaching Spanish on italki and other platforms, working with students from around the globe. Over the years I’ve taught hundreds of learners of all ages and levels. Each student brings unique goals, but the common thread is the desire to connect with Spanish naturally and fluently.
As a learner myself, I’ve lived the process from the inside. At 19, I spent a year in Russia, where I learned to communicate in Russian. More recently, I’ve been studying French, which keeps me aware of what it means to start fresh with a new language. These experiences make me not just a teacher, but also a fellow learner who understands the frustrations and small victories of the journey.
I started holahow.com to go beyond individual lessons and create a space for everyone learning Spanish. Here you’ll find:
My mission is simple: to help you think in Spanish and use it with confidence in real situations. If you’ve struggled with traditional methods or felt stuck, you’ll find in this space both guidance and encouragement to keep moving forward.
